What does Mac Duo actually do?
As you close your MacBook, Mac Duo reads the lid angle and transforms a snapshot of your screen. The image shifts in perspective and gently blurs, making it seem to hang in place as the display moves. Open your Mac and you're back to normal.
Will it work on my MacBook?
You need macOS 14 or later and a MacBook with an accessible lid-angle sensor. Many models from the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro onward have one, but some M1 and Touch Bar-era M1/M2 models don't expose it. Manual preview lets you check the visual effect before activating a license.
Why does it need Screen Recording permission?
Mac Duo needs a snapshot of your desktop to animate it. The snapshot stays in memory on your Mac, it's never saved or uploaded.
Is it a subscription?
No. It's $3.99 paid once, for up to five Macs.
Does it change how my Mac sleeps?
No. Mac Duo adds a visual effect while the lid is moving and leaves sleep behavior intact. Screen snapshot only starts when the lid moves and stops when the lid stops.
